Captain’s Report 8th Jan 2018
Happy orienteering new year to all POTOC members & guests!
This is my first Captain's report for our newly launched website.
We hope you like the look of the new website, which we have spent quite a bit of time setting up to get it looking right.
This year started off with the Laurie Bradley new year’s day score event which was hosted by Walton Chasers at Hednesford Camp. Just 8 POTOC runners took part, with Rob Holdway coming an excellent 3rd place. OD won the event as usual and we were 5th out of the 6 West Midlands clubs.
On the same day, DVO put on a mass start race at Buxton which 3 POTOC attended. Rich Pigott was 5th on men’s open, Andrew Rowe 12th and Diane Mitson 15th on course 2.
On Sunday 7th January, 5 of us headed over to Strawberry Hill near Mansfield for the NOC event. The temperature was near freezing and there was added obstacles of frozen puddles to navigate! Judy Douglas & John Pigott were 22nd & 37th respectively on short green. Paul Graetz was an excellent 8th on Green. Rich Pigott 4th & Martin Pigott 6th on Brown.
Compass Sport Trophy
We will once again be on the quest to reach the Compass Sport final, which this year is in October on Cannock Chase so extra incentive for us to qualify!
We need EVERYONE to take part in the qualifier on Sunday 11th March at Nescliffe, near Shrewsbury.
I will send you further information next month about the entry process.
Also coming around quickly is the JK at Easter, where POTOC are organising the long distance event on Easter Sunday.
If you would like to enter the relays on Easter Monday look out for my email soon.
I look forward to seeing you soon at an event or the club presentation lunch on Saturday 20th January.
