Bathpool Park local event

Our second local event of the year attracted a large number of entries despite the early morning drizzle, 43 of you ploughed through the mud!

It was encouraging to see a few newbies who may have found out by the posters that were put up in the park during the week. The posters and the extra social media effort seem to be paying off.

An interesting twist was removing the paths from the short and long hard maps. The ones who had been to Bathpool had an advantage by knowing where the large tarmac and smaller paths were. But those who were first timers to Bathpool must have found it extremely difficult in some places working out where they were in relation to the paths. Thanks to Marian Denham for planning and the other helpers on the day.

Lizard Hill West Midlands League

We had an excellent number of runners yesterday, 18 of us made the relatively short trip to Lizard Hill near Shifnal.

The best performance was Catherine Bushnell who came 1st on light green by 3 minutes. We also had 2nd place finishes on Brown for 'El Captain' and Blue from Graham Pigott, which will gain us valuable WML points. Other high finishes were Sam Naylor 11th on Brown, Paul Graetz 14th on green, Judy Douglas 12th and Austin Farr 13th on short green.

The next league event is at Walton Chasers Mansty Woods on 6th May.

Ellie Bales Compass Sport article

The latest edition arrived today and flicking through I was pleasantly surprised to see the article on page 25.

As part of the Route Choice 5 section, Ellie is asked 12 questions and the funniest is 'What 3 words come to mind when told "We're going orienteering"? - "I'm too tired"

Compass Sport Trophy

All members should have received an email about the compass sport trophy, please reply to me asap to say that you can run (hopefully!).

We will once again be on the quest to reach the Compass Sport final, which this year is in October on Cannock Chase so extra incentive for us to qualify!

We need EVERYONE to take part in the qualifier on Sunday 11th March at Nescliffe, near Shrewsbury.

We are up against Walton Chasers, Wrekin, City of Birmingham (COBOC) and ERYRI.

JK relays

If you would like to enter the relays, please let me know asap as the closing date for entries is 4th March.
