POTOC Captains ReportJK Captain’s Report 4th April 2018

Sprint

This year's JK kicked off today with a lightning fast Sprint around MOD Stafford. The barracks provided a flat area with many roads, short grass, reasonably spaced buildings, the occasional earth mound and few uncrossable features.

MOD Stafford Our top sprint result was Jean Rostron, silver medal in W75, just missing out on gold by 5 seconds! Judy Douglas was 5th in the same class.

Best male was Rob Holdway, finishing 4th in M35 only missing the podium by 6 seconds! Ellie Bales ran a great race to end 5th in W18 elite class.

Middle

Brereton Spurs was a complete contrast to the first day's flat sprint. The entire map was covered in contours, so runners found themselves climbing or descending steeply for much of their course.

Barbara Farr had the best POTOC result, coming second on W75, only 28 seconds behind the leader. Judy Douglas & Jean Rostron also had goods run, finishing fourth and sixth respectively in W75.

The best results for the men were on M35, Rob Holdway was 7th and Graham Pigott 8th.

Long

The Long distance race around the woodland of Beaudesert, where – after a scenic start through the old walled garden – the mud, brashings and undergrowth of the forest combined with some unseasonably chilly weather to present a tough physical challenge to the runners.

Barbara Farr did not feel the pressure and had an amazing run to come 1st on the day and become W75 overall JK Champion. Here is Barbara being presented with her trophy.

Judy Douglas was 5th and Jean Rostron 7th in W75. The next best was Rich Pigott who had a storming run to come 8th on M40.
