POTOC Captains ReportCaptain’s Report 14th May 2018

It has been a busy few weeks with the midweek urban events, Biddulph Grange summer series and a couple of West Midlands league events.

This coming weekend is the British Champs in Scotland, one of the highlights of the year!

Biddulph Grange 1st Summer Series

On a fantastic sunny bank holiday Monday, 68 people ran through the lovely woods. 33 were independents which we hope will come back again and maybe join our club.

Shoal Hill West Midlands League

14 members competed on this boiling hot day! On Short Green Judy Douglas had a great run finishing 4th, Austin Farr came 11th followed closely by Barbara 14th.

Peter Yoxall was next on Short Green coming 26th in 80 minutes, Jean was 29th just 5 minutes later and Marian Denham came 35th.

On the Green course Paul Graetz was 8th in 59.26, Elizabeth Bales 23rd and Gerry Riley 47th.

On Blue we had 3 runners, Ellie Bales was 15th and second female, Dave Bales 21st just pipping Henry Morgan by 18 seconds!

On the 9.7k Brown course, 'El Capitan' came 3rd and Rob Holdway 2 mins behind in 5th.

Bentley Woods West Midlands League

This is one of the best areas in the West Midlands, a lovely runnable woodland, on the way to the start we passed a blanket of bluebells which was a fantastic sight.

On Yellow new member Darcy Dunn aged 12 came 1st! Her mum Mandy was 4th, 2 minutes behind.

On Short Green, John Pigott had a well overdue decent run in 14th place and Marian Denham was 21st.

The Green course 5.2k saw Paul Graetz 14th, Dave Bales a minute behind 17th. Elizabeth Bales 28th and Gerry Riley 33rd.

On Blue Ellie Bales unfortunately mispunched.

The Brown course had Graham Pigott 9th and 'El Capitan' 12th.

Whitfield Valley 2nd Summer Series

The second summer series is only 12 days away on what should be an interesting challenging area that hasn't been used for a summer series before.
