British Orienteering Championships – Long distance race, Balmoral, Scotland
The British Championships were held at Balmoral Castle on the day of the royal wedding. Beautiful weather, fantastic courses and excellent mapping all combined to make it a great event.
We had 6 runners making the long journey north to compete.
Ellie Bales came a creditable 8th place in W18E on her 6.3k and 240m course.
In W55, 5.6k with 185m climb, Elizabeth Bales placed 28th out of 40 runners.
On W75, Jean Rostron came 9th on her 3.4k course with 110m climb.
Andrew Rowe, M40L, took on the tough challenge of 9k and 375m of climb. He got around in 137 minutes to take 22nd place.
In the M60L class we had Dave Bales and Henry Morgan gunning for the top POTOC runner! Dave just came out on top in 87 minutes ahead of Henry who was 7 minutes behind.
Whitfield Valley 2nd Summer Series
The second summer series is only nearly upon us, on what should be an interesting challenging area that hasn't been used for a summer series before.
