Captain’s Report 8th August 2018
Lakes 5 Days
12 members attended the 5 days at Silver Howe, Angle Tarn Pikes, Whinlatter, Askham Fell and Dale Park.
The week did not get off the best of starts with the 1st day at Silver Howe a complete washout! John Pigott commented "Could only see past the end of his nose" and "Just wanted to reach the finish"
The star for POTOC was Judy Douglas who won her class W75L. Judy was 1st on days 1 and 2 and 2nd on days 3 and 5. She won with 4064 pts, over 200 more than 2nd place. Congratulations Judy !
The youngest club member was Daniel Pigott competing at his first multi-day event in M10B. He did 4 events and came a brilliant 5th overall. His highlight was winning day 4 - well done Daniel!
Daniel's dad Graham also fared very well coming 3rd overall in M35L even though his missed day 5.
Brother Rich ran the first 2 days and had a bit of a nightmare in the rain on day 1 but was much improved on day 2 coming 8th just 11 minutes behind (pro) Nick Barrable.
Dave Bales, in class 60L was 40th overall, his best was 33rd on day 5. Paul Graetz in M70L ran just day 1 and 2, his top effort was 7th on day 1.
Peter Yoxall in M70s ran 4 days ending 8th overall. Peter's best runs were 6th on days 2 and 5. John Pigott also in 70s ran just 3 days, his top performance was 7th on day 3.
Ellie Bales in W18L ran all 5 days and ended 7th overall, her best run was 5th on day 2. Liz Bales in 55L came 20th overall, her top effort was 14th on day 3.
Marian Denham just ran 2 days in class 65L, her best was 14th on day 3. Jean Rostron in W75L competed for 4 days coming 9th overall, her top run was a great 3rd on the last day.
All members will be looking forward to the next multi-day event, the Scottish 6 days next summer from 28th July to 3rd August.

ParkHall Score and BBQ Sunday 12th August
Our annual score event and BBQ is being held at Park Hall on Sunday 12th August. Mass start is at 11am and you have 60 minutes to find as many controls as possible.
There are some easy controls on path junctions for juniors. Cost £5 for adults and £2.50 concessions (£1 discount for POTOC members).
Everyone welcome to the BBQ afterwards, which also includes Summer Park League Awards Presentation. Signposted from Park Hall Road (the B5040 from Hanley to Weston Coyney). From Weston Coyney (off the A520) turn right into Hulme Road after 1km. From Hanley follow the signs towards Weston Coyney from the A52 and turn left 0.6km after the gasholder by the mini-roundabout. After 0.6km turn right off this minor road into the car park.
